Here, I’ll introduce you to some of my characters, some I play frequently and others not so much. I have other toons but I don’t play them as often, so I will probably make the occasional mention of them if it’s relevant to the topic I’m talking about.
Let’s start with Desdel, my oldest character- now a Draenei hunter. Desdel was actually a randomized name that I picked when I first rolled her as a Blood Elf hunter. My former boyfriend introduced me to WoW after I begged him to show me the game. I was fascinated with the game after I saw him play his level 80 Paladin. He was hesitant and warned me that the game was very addictive. I didn’t think it was possible to get that hooked to a game as I often got bored with games I did play, but never have I gotten so hooked that I played a game for several hours a day, every day.
As I started levelling my hunter, I started learning things and fell in love with World of Warcraft. I was intimidated by pvp, after seeing what my former boyfriend would do with his paladin in battlegrounds. I also saw him raid Naxxramas as I was levelling my hunter, and thought it was the coolest thing in the world. When I finally got to 80, I got to experience the pain of trying to find 5 mans dungeons back in the day when the Dungeon Finder Tool did not exist yet. It was exhilarating at the end of the runs that I survived, and I think that was what really got me hooked to the game. I wanted more than 5 mans so I looked to raiding, and actually even started to pvp too.
The Alliance always won Wintergrasp and had VoA most of the time- that frustrated me. Even when we had WG, it was incredibly difficult to get in a VoA raid because spots would fill very quickly. I tried to raid but was not satisfied with my progression in Ulduar even when I did not know a thing called progression raiding even existed then. It was then I decided to roll another toon, a rogue named Aviria.
My second ever toon, Aviria was also a blood elf rogue. At the time, she was a low level toon when I decided to change factions with my hunter and also took Aviria with me when I moved. I admired my ex’s rogue, Anaesthesia also, and decided that I would level Aviria to 80. I fully intended to pvp a lot because I loved how Anaesthesia could stealth unseen in the shadows and strike at unsuspecting enemies.
It was with Aviria that I got my first taste of progression raiding. She went from a Blood Elf to a Night Elf rogue when I changed factions. My hunter turned into a Draenei and have since become my farming toon. I got to clear ToC10(H) and 25, moving onto ICC 10 and 25 later on. When the content went on farm, I started to PvP all the time on my rogue and managed to get almost a full Wrathful set before Cataclysm came out. I loved my rogue, and still do- I would still raid on her if I could find a regular raiding spot for her. She also has cleared most of Tier 11 raids, but in this tier, she isn’t the star as she was in ICC.
Noches, my resto and feral cat Druid stole the spotlight when Cataclysm hit. I was leveling her when I was raiding with Aviria in WoWLK, but I had no intentions of doing anything seriously with her. My Druid was just something I could play around with occasionally when I was bored with farming raid content or pvping. This changed when Deathwing wreaked destruction upon Azeroth and tore the world asunder.
“Who will be your main?” My guildmaster, Tuwa, from my old guild, Exalted asked me in regards to the upcoming Cataclysm expansion. At the time, I just started raiding as a resto druid healer very casually to see if I liked it. I found the pressure tremendously high as a healer than it was for dps, but I thrived at it. Healing was definitely a different role than what I was used to as a dps, but I was good. It was when I decided that Noches were to become my main, although I still wanted to raid with Aviria when I could.
Playing Noches clicked with me, and I fell in love with being a healer. I had new responsibilities- keeping people alive under stress. Suddenly I was thrust into the raiding scene when Cataclysm came out, and managed to clear all tier 11 raids! Sadly, I never got to do hard modes as I would have liked to- I got moved to an alt raid (which is another story in itself that I will probably write about later), so I never saw hardmode content with my druid. She is now in a new guild, along with my rogue, in Eternal Destiny, run by awesome people who I have become great friends with!
Currently, my rogue raids occasionally as a sub for my guild’s casual firelands raid while my druid raids full time with my guild’s firelands progression raid as a healer.
In the mean time, I play a blood elf holy paladin, Oriole, who just hit 85. I would definitely not mind trying to raid with her, but isn’t on my list of priorities right now with my hands already full with raiding on my druid. I rolled a holy paladin because I wanted to learn the ins and outs of playing one, so far I am really loving it. I have yet tried to pvp on her, but I think I eventually will once I work my courage up to throw myself back into the battlegrounds.
I actually have another 85 paladin that is alliance, that is holy as well but I never got to level her as holy so I never really got to learn that role/class. Which is why I rolled my new paladin, it was so I could learn how to play a holy paladin! If I was to learn a new class/role, I would definitely recommend rolling a new toon and levelling it in that role. You learn so much when it’s the only thing you do!
These are my characters that I frequently play on the server, Cenarion Circle. My new belf paladin is on a different server, Silvermoon, because I wanted to be able to play with a friend who had transferred from CC to SM. Alas, he has apparently quit the game and I’m stuck with my paladin. I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up transferring her to another server, or back to CC where I know people. It sure is lonely on SM.
To sum this post up, I have a total of 5 level 85 characters (am already thinking of rolling another one!) I also have a few lowbies that I rolled because I was bored or wanted to try a new class but didn’t really get into. Do you raid with alts or generally stick to one main? I am an altoholic raider, if I like an alt enough, I’ll raid with the alt!
Meet Miriamerle, my brand new priest!
With the off-season happening while we await the release of Mists of Pandaria, I’ve been levelling Miriamerle. My desire to learn more about priests and their styles of healing is why I decided to roll one! It’s been so much fun just logging in for a couple of hours once in a while and heal dungeons. I’m really liking playing the Discipline spec… .. Continue reading >>
