In my previous post, I wrote about the problems I ran into using my current (healing) UI when I changed my offspec from kitty to moonkin.
I am a Clique user, so I use my mouse buttons to bind both my healing and damaging spells so I am able to heal and dps when needed in my restoration spec. If I accidentally mouseover a friendly target in moonkin form, a healing spell binded to that specific mouse button gets used and forces me to shapeshift out of moonkin form to heal. I found this unacceptable and went searching for solutions to solve this problem.
Additionally, I needed some kind of timer addon to keep track of my DoT’s and my eclispe timer bar. I realized I was going to have to give my moonkin spec a completely different UI set up, using seperate addon profiles to make it work. Being feral was a non-issue because I didn’t share the same spells with my restoration spec, and those I did share with the spec were on my bars.
This is what I use for my UIs on every toon I have:
- Base UI: Tukui with Healer layout activated
- Clique: With both healing and damaging spells binded on different mouse buttons
- AzCastBar (New!): So I am able to see my casting bar on top of the raid frame
- Power Auras: To keep track of my Life Bloom stacks, Nature’s Swiftness and Harmony buff (more information about this can be found here)
- DBM and DBM SpellTimers: For raid encounter warnings and to keep track of things like Brezzes.
- ClassTimers: Buff and Debuff timer tracker
I keep my UI very minimal and keep things on need to know basis for a couple of reasons. First, I hate a cluttered UI with a passion, and unneccessary addons suck up memory. Second, when I am healing, I don’t need to get overloaded with information that I don’t need to know- I’m busy as it is keeping my raid alive! In my clique set up for my restoration spec, you can see why I was having issues when I switched to my moonkin spec.
I remedied this problem by making a seperate profile for my moonkin spec as you can see below, with only my damage dealing spells bound to my mouse buttons:
My overall UI is still the same for my moonkin spec, except the difference is that I now also use ClassTimers to track my dots and Power Auras will only show my Nature’s swiftness buff when it procs. I’ve also added AzCastBars so I can better see my cast bars since the bar in Tukui is too small for me to see properly. See below for my new setup on my moonkin:
And…. there we go! I am really happy with how things have been set up so far. I am confident that this set up will work well when I raid in either spec, and do not expect any more issues. Here’s also another screenshot of what my raid frame looks like in 25 man on my paladin and another one using the Tukui Dps layout on my rogue:
Yeah, I’m a big fan of Tukui. As you can see here, Tukui is a very clean base UI in any raid layout and this is why I love it. Now I just have to figure out how to play my Moonkin
