Some news: new writers and upcoming projects!
February 7, 2012 in digital art, Media, Musings, Website, World of Warcraft
I’m back.. I hope you’ve had a good week of raiding in WoW and maybe questing in SW:TOR while I burned to a crisp on the beaches of Mexico! I look more like a giant red panda right now, but nevertheless, I had an amazing week there. I might write about my trip, but that’s a post for another day.
New column writers:
Today, I would like to announce a couple of things in regards to this website. I’ve recruited a couple of new writers, so you will be seeing the occasional posts from them in their respective columns. First off, Xtasia is currently my guildmaster and runs our main raids, she has stepped up to the plate to volunteer her wisdom in writing about guild and raid management. She might occasionally write about healing on her priest or dpsing on her mage, either way, I hope you’ll find her posts entertaining under the column, Guildmaster QQ!
Next up is my fellow raid healer, Adriella, he raids with me on his holy paladin.. you guessed it, he’ll be writing about everything that’s to know about holy paladins. Having trouble maintaining a tanking or ret off-spec gear set up? Unsure what stats and talents are good for holy paladins? Give this guy a shout out in comments or emails, he’ll give you a few pointers or direct you to more resources, or you guys can just talk shop!
Give them a round of applause to welcome them to misspewpew.com. You can find their posts under their names respectively in the drop down menu in the header of this website. I’m not sure if I’ll be incorporating BuddyPress back in to give more accessibility to reading their feeds and activities on this site, because it made my website incredibly slow when it was first launched. I may be looking into an alternative solution because right now, I only have categories as a way of tracking their posts for anyone who tries to look them up. If anyone knows of a good plug-in or simple solutions, inbox me and you will have my eternal thanks for that.
What have I been up to?
What have I been up to since I got back home? I rang Vidyala up over at Manalicious and went for a couple dungeon runs where Fannon from Dwarven Battle Medic also joined us. I went on my holy paladin, Oriolle and also brought along Adriella on his alt warrior, the group ended up being a ton of fun! I’ve recently begun to enjoy RealID dungeoning, because I can now play with other people from other servers who I know from the blogosphere. I absolutely love this nifty feature now that I’ve been making friends across the realms with other bloggers.
Cross-Realm Raiding:
I was excited to find out that cross-realm raiding is now live, and hit up a few people looking for any cross-realm raids happening. How awesome is that? To find out more about cross-realm raids with your favorite writers or podcasters, go to Twitter Land Raiding over at enjin.com and hang out with us! I’ll be attending the Ulduar 25 man raid on the Alliance side this friday and then again next week Saturday, because I’ve always wanted to see all of Ulduar. My druid, Aidrana will be there, so don’t be shy and send me a message saying hello if you’re part of the raid!
I feel re-invigorated now, some amazing things have happened in my personal life in the last few weeks and with the new features now available in WoW, I’m psyched about playing WoW again. I think I just needed a really good vacation away from everything, and this will be a habit from now on.
Upcoming projects:
I have a ton of projects going on too, one of them is a new do-over for a website by Draccus Moonsayer, whom you all have to come to know for his great stories! I recently released some preliminary book cover work for him to look at, and once he gives the thumbs up, I’ll be starting a new article on this project, like I always do with different projects. From there, you can read about my progression on the Saga project (code named by Draccus, of course!) and watch it unfold to the final results. You can count on seeing the article coming up soon.
I was also asked to make a new video for Dragon Soul, while that has yet started, I’ve been brainstorming for ideas on how I might do this video. It’s a lengthy project, one that I can’t commit to right now because I want to finish my other projects before I start a new one. The firelands video itself took 10 hours of editing, and that’s not including the time I spent filming and drawing outlines for the story board. I can safely say I probably spent a total of 15 hours, so I know the Dragon Soul video would take even longer. It’s hard to raid and film at the same time for the sake of getting good footage and trying not to wipe my raid (ha, ha!).
This is currently on my to-do list on top of other projects I have going on for other things that’s not related to WoW. I desperately need a new video card because playing in SW:TOR on my current computer’s set up is not cutting it for me. Short of buying a new computer with money I don’t have, upgrading is the next best option for me. It also really tweaks my nose that my computer isn’t even two years old and it can barely run SW:TOR. So with having said that, money I make from commissioned projects for other people shall be going to my new video card and power supply to upgrade my computer
What is misspewpew.com all about?
I have been thinking about this for a while now, because things are slowly changing away from what I originally intended to do with this website at first. I had the idea of writing about the druid class, making it into a druid based website with the occasionally guest writers. So far, I’ve got a good collection of art work related to WoW and SW:TOR ( I never thought I’d end up writing about that too!), more than any posts that’s related to actual game mechanics for Druids, and the like.
I’ve asked myself a few times now if I honestly liked where this site was going, and my answer’s been, “Yes!” every time. This is what I love to do, and dream one day I’ll get paid doing it. I’m slowly getting there, and it’s through this website that’s going to make it happen. It opened many windows of opportunities that I never dreamt I would get to see. I got to meet so many people who have done nothing but give me great support and feedback on my work. This is what truly motivates me in my journey of creating awesome work because it makes me *want* to share it with people like you!
So.. misspewpew.com will continue to be about general gaming in WoW with some focus on my work as an artist. I’ll still write about the druid class because I love my druid and still want to learn everything there is to know about druids. The website just won’t be druid-centric like I originally intended for it to be
Conclusion:
I know that I started the 20 days of WoW blogging- I wrote a couple posts when I was away on my vacation, so you might be seeing a higher volume of new posts here in the coming weeks ahead along with posts from the rest of the crew here. I’ve got a busy week, that’s for sure but I will definitely be around hanging out in Twitter or in-game either on WoW or SW:TOR in my spare time. In the mean time, kick back and enjoy the new upcoming content!
Meet Miriamerle, my brand new priest!
With the off-season happening while we await the release of Mists of Pandaria, I’ve been levelling Miriamerle. My desire to learn more about priests and their styles of healing is why I decided to roll one! It’s been so much fun just logging in for a couple of hours once in a while and heal dungeons. I’m really liking playing the Discipline spec… .. Continue reading >>
